We’ve all been there, and it’s never any fun. Remember, if you have diarrhea* or are experiencing a bout of travellers’ diarrhea, Pepto can help you out.
Diarrhea Symptoms
The symptoms of diarrhea are almost as unpleasant as the act itself. Symptoms include:
Loose and watery stools
An urgency to go to the bathroom
If you’re experiencing loose watery stools, more than likely you’ve got diarrhea. It’s important to remain hydrated, as the body is losing more than its fair share of water when you’ve got diarrhea. When untreated, dehydration can lead to serious complications. Please contact your doctor immediately if you have ongoing diarrhea and are experiencing any of the following signs of dehydration:
Confusion
Irritability
Dry skin
Headaches
Rapid heart rate
Small amount of urine
Dark urine
What Causes Diarrhea?
Pepto is indicated to treat diarrhea and traveller’s diarrhea. A common cause of diarrhea is a virus or bacteria, but it could also be caused by eating foods that upset the digestive system.
Diarrhea Relief
When you take Pepto as soon as you start experiencing diarrhea symptoms, it can help provide relief when you need it most. In addition, you should drink at least six 8-ounce glasses of fluid per day. Choose fruit juice without pulp, broth, or soda (without caffeine). Chicken broth (without the fat), tea with honey, and sports drinks are also good choices. Instead of drinking liquids with your meals, drink liquids between meals. Drink small amounts of fluids frequently.
